Who is Loni?
Loni Fagel, MA, MEd, LPCC, is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Expressive Arts Therapist, EMDR Certified Therapist (EMDRIA), EMDRIA Approved Consultant™, and Registered Sand Therapist. She holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychology from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and Special Education from DePaul University in Chicago, and an undergraduate degree in Television Writing and Producing from Columbia College Chicago.
Loni’s mission is to help people heal from emotional wounds and navigate life’s challenges through creative and evidence-based approaches. As an expressive arts therapist, she integrates EMDR, sandtray, and expressive arts therapy with humanistic, existential, psychodynamic, and Jungian philosophies. Her work is person-centered, holistic, and biopsychosocial–spiritual, emphasizing safety, inclusivity, and authenticity in the healing process.
Loni specializes in working with individuals ages 8 and older experiencing grief and loss, chronic illness and medical issues including cancer, trauma and stress-related issues, anxiety, depression, and spiritual and identity concerns. She has a vast knowledge and understanding of Jewish culture and strives to be culturally-sensitive and culturally-aware of all cultures and identities, and provides training and continuing education on antisemitism, historical and intergenerational trauma and epigenetics.
Her expertise and voice have been featured in Kindred Spirit Magazine, Authority Magazine, Maverick Paradox Magazine, The Jewish Chronicle, and in multiple podcasts and professional summits focused on trauma-informed and creative healing.
Outside of the office, Loni enjoys downhill skiing, painting and creating mixed media art, traveling, and spending time with her family and her mini-bernedoodle, Lucy Von Doggins. She continues to find inspiration in the power of creativity, connection, and the human capacity to grow through adversity.
